if it's worth the risk, take the fall.
Like the URL of this tumblog, Ichiro has been batting leadoff for the Mariners for a really long time (and he’s been pretty good at it with a career .370 OBP). This will change as manager Eric Wedge has stated that Ichiro will be batting in the 3-hole for the Mariners this coming season, behind Chone Figgins (facepalm or laugh hysterically here depending on if you are a Mariners fan) and Dustin Ackley.
You’ve probably all heard about the batting practice stories where Ichiro totally trolls spectators who question his ability to hit for power by proceeding to hitting monster shots out of the park. Remember, it’s not Ichiro’s job to hit home runs during a game, his job is to get on base and move runners. This will no longer be the case. That’s why, even if it’s a mistake to bat Ichiro third (and definitely a mistake to bat Figgins leadoff,) it’ll at least be a little cool watching highlights of him hitting some bombs out of the park this year.
